Petra Alvarez Sialana
Petra Alvarez Sialana of Kekaha died March 24, 2005, in Harbor City, Calif., at the age of 87.
Born April 14, 1917, in Kekaha, she was a retired custodian for the State of Hawai‘i at Kekaha Elementary School.
She is survived by her children Katy (Arnold) Mahelona of Carlsbad, Calif., Paul (Becky) Sialana of Kekaha, Rudy (Carol) Sialana of Harbor City, Calif. and Angela Triplett of San Diego, Calif.; son-in-law Hugh Coleman of Aiea, HI; two brothers, Jose Alvarez and Sergio Alvarez; two sisters, Mary Adams and Marie Peros; sister-in-law Martha Sialana Kruse; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by husband Patricio Sialana; daughters Beatrice Coleman, Patricia Ann Sialana; and great-granddaughter Carly Mahelona.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 2, at St. Theresa Parish in Kekaha. Visitation will be a 1 p.m., service at 3 p.m. Aloha attire is suggested.
Agnes Thronas
Agnes Thronas died on March 23, 2005, at Regency at Puakea at the age of 82.
Born in Papa‘a on Aug. 3, 1922, she was a federal government worker for the Hawai‘i IRS department on O‘ahu. She lived in Waikiki for many years and moved to Kaua‘i to be close to her family.
Preceded in death by her parents, Olaf and Irene Thronas; brothers, Stanley, Samuel, Fred Thronas and James Kaneakua, she is survived by two brothers, Olaf “Elia” Thronas of Hanama‘ulu and Henry (Renee) Thronas of Wailua and two sisters: Irene Strong and Betty LaCoe, both of California; two sisters-in-law: Mary Thronas and Betty Jean Thronas of Wailua as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, April 1, from 9:30 a.m.. at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa‘a where Mass will begin at 10:15 a.m. There will be a private burial service later. Hawaiian attire is suggested.
James C. Abreu
A memorial service will be held for James C. Abreu, who died Sept. 30, 2004 at the age of 75.
Born on Kaua‘i on June 21, 1929, he is survived by his wife, Audrey, daughter Lori Abreu-Bennett, son Robbie Abreu, and daughter Tammy Abreu-Butron and 12 grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brothers, Henry Abreu of Kalaheo, John (Nelson) Abreu of Lawa‘i, Ed Abreu of California and sister Beatrice Capocci of Kalaheo and many other family members.
The family will be having prayers at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo at the 4:30 mass on Saturday April 2 and asks all friends and relatives to join them in prayer.
Samuel Hepa Sr.
Samuel Hepa Sr. of Kapa‘a, died March 24, 2005, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 77.
Born June 21, 1927, in Wailua, he was a security guard.
He is survived by his wife: Janet Hepa; two sons: Samuel Hepa Jr. and Derrick Hepa; one sister: Angeline Dotario; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel in Koloa where services will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
