Wally Bjornstad
Wally Bjornstad of Kalaheo died at Straub Hospital on March 23, 2005, at the age of 82.
Born in Spencer, Iowa on Aug. 24, 1922, he was a retired proprietor of Bjornstad Hardware & Plumbing.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia; four sons, Chris (Connie) Bjornstad, John (Bonnie) Bjornstad, Ned (Diane) Bjornstad, all of Okoboji, Iowa and Fred (Deb) Bjornstad of Hatenville, NJ; two daughters, Margie Russel of Des Moines, Iowa and Mary “Pooh” Heinrich of Okoboji, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; cousins and close friends.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, Apr. 4, at the Kukui‘ula Small Boat Harbor in Koloa.
Arrangements are being handled by Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary and Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Agnes Thronas
Agnes Thronas died on March 23, 2005, at Regency at Puakea at the age of 82.
Born in Papa‘a on Aug. 3, 1922, she was a federal government worker for the Hawai‘i IRS department on O‘ahu. She lived in Waikiki for many years and moved to Kaua‘i to be close to her family.
Preceded in death by her parents, Olaf and Irene Thronas; brothers, Stanley, Samuel, Fred Thronas and James Kaneakua, she is survived by two brothers, Olaf “Elia” Thronas of Hanama‘ulu and Henry (Renee) Thronas of Wailua and two sisters: Irene Strong and Betty LaCoe, both of California; two sisters-in-law: Mary Thronas and Betty Jean Thronas of Wailua as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, April 1, from 9:30 a.m.. at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa‘a where Mass will begin at 10:15 a.m. There will be a private burial service later. Hawaiian attire is suggested.
Theodora Banquel
Theodora Banquel of Kapa‘a died March 25, 2005, at Wilcox Hospital at the age of 78.
Born June 5, 1926, in Lihu‘e, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by 10 children: Lawrence (Trini) Banquel, Sr., Gloria (George) Somalpong, Ricardo (Magnolia) Banquel, Robert (Erlinda) Banquel, Veronica (Eusebio) Dasalia, Edna (Henry) Lovell, Patricia A. Apana, Buenaventura Banquel Jr., Carolyn (Kaupena) Kinimaka, Marilyn (Jamie) Tolbe; three brothers: Domingo Alisna, Sr., Alejandro Alisna, and Manuel Emperoso; one sister: Beatrice Ancheta; 25 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, March 30, at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa‘a, from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Kapa‘a Public Cemetery.

David Richards, Sr.
David Abraham Richards Sr. of Kapa‘a died March 17, 2005, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 55.
Born June 24, 1949, in California, he was a fireman.
He is survived by two sons David Richards, Jr. and Roy Richards; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 31, at Kauai Veterans Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Harry Azeka
Harry Yasushi Azeka of Honolulu died March 14, 2005, at St. Francis Hospice West at the age of 76.
Born in Hanalei, he was a retired postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in San Diego, Calif.
He is survived by brothers: Hiroshi (Patsy) Azeka of Hanalei; Itsuo (Kazuko) Azeka of Los Angeles, Calif., and Clifford Azeka of Honolulu and sisters: Mildred Azeka of Honolulu and Lorraine (Yoshio) Katsumoto of Honolulu.
Private service were held. The family requests no koden (monetary gifts). Arrangements were handled by Hosoi Garden Mortuary.
Beatrice Nordmeier
Beatrice Santiago Nordmeier of ‘Oma‘o, died March 23, 2005, at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home at the age of 79.
Born April 29, 1925, in ‘Oma‘o, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by six children: Lattitia (Bob) Hood, Joann (Jackson) Hamamura, Sharon (Michael) Freitas, Julius (Carmen) Nordmeier, William (Darlene) Nordmeier, and Jennifer Freitas; one brother: Gabriel (Lucy) Santiago; one brother-in-law: Eric (Bernice) Nordmeier and two sisters-in-law: Christina Chong and Harriette Palea; 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa where services will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. by Wayne Vidinha. Burial to follow at Koloa Public Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
