The Nawiliwili Yacht Club’s “Gene Wells Memorial Series” continued, March 11 with seven boats participating. The race covered 4.9 nautical miles with the blustery NNE wind blowing between 15 and 20 knots. Malihini, skippered by Doug Gibson, led the pack with first place in both the Open and Multihull classes in the fourth race of this 6 race series. Malia and Mapuana, both sailing beauties designed and built by Gene Wells, followed Malihini for second and third respectively in the Open class. The “Gene Wells Memorial Series” will continue on Thursday, March 17th with the first flag at 5 p.m. The public is invited to view the races from the Nawiliwili Jetty where the race committee will be stationed, as well as to attend the gathering at the Nawiliwili Yacht Club clubhouse immediately following the race.
