The first singles contest wasn’t as close with Kapa‘a’s Kia Tom defeating Joseph Mecham, 6-3, 6-2.
Waimea took two out of the three doubles matches, as Bryan Hayashi and Peterson Dela Cruz cruised against Kapa‘a’s Taylor Alfiler and Cory Napolean, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0.
Danny Rodrick and Chris Ramelb won the only doubles contest for Kapa‘a. The Warrior duo straight setted Waimea’s Jeffrey Kakuda and David Honma, 6-4, 6-4.
Waimea came back in the third doubles match with Scott Lopez and Jake Anderson overpowering Kapa‘a’s Travis Wakayama and Kila Youn, 6-1, 6-0.
In exhibition matches, Alfiler and Rodrick overcame Waimea’s Scott and Nathan Martin, 8-0 and Waimea’s David Hadwin and Jordan Sato climbed past Wakayama and Ramelb, 8-7.
The Kapa‘a girls defeated the Menehune girls, 3-2 in a very close match.
Warrior Shawna Tamayose ousted Menehune Ciera Sherman, 6-4, 6-0 in the first singles contest. But Tori Kagawa evened things up in the second singles match, with a win over Kapa‘a’s Tasha Haraguchi, 6-2, 6-4.
Waimea utilitzed its momentum from the Kagawa victory with another win in the first doubles encounter with Kapa‘a, as Reiko Ayabe and Kristine Sison nailed down Kelli Okamoto and Crystine Ito, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.
After that it was all Kapa‘a, with Julie Yoshida and Mariko Asano picking up the win in the second doubles match over Kelsi Naumu and Mitzi Seto, 6-2, 6-4.
Kapa‘a’s Christine Lane and Stephanie Kawamura clinched the win with a triumph over Sharla and Ashley Shimono, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. In consolation matches, Courtney Kerlin and Lauren Esaki defeated Waimea’s Leslie Gudoy and Lovely Abalos, 8-3 and Waimea’s Reiko Ayabe and Mitzi Seto took care of Carrie Esaki and Tasha Haraguchi, 8-7. Results of the Kaua‘i/Kula match were not reported.
