Members of the Kaua‘i Police Department’s ice task force recently busted a small meth lab in ‘Ele‘ele, finding all the materials necessary to cook (manufacture) methamphetamine.
Officials said they were tipped off to the lab by local residents, who complained to police about a strong chemical odor coming from and traffic coming and going at all hours of the day and night at a home at 751 Laulea St. in the Eleele Nani subdivision.
On Feb. 18, a search warrant was used to gain KPD entrance into the house, with officers from the ice task force, narcotics and vice section, special services team, and patrol services bureau coordinating their efforts.
Officers found evidence of a small-scale methamphetamine laboratory, including all the necessary ingredients, facilities, and recipes for making methamphetamine. Officers also confiscated 29 grams of finished crystal methamphetamine, with a street value of $11,600, and various types of drug paraphernalia.
Isaac Fabro, 36, was arrested at the residence, and charged with two counts of firstdegree promotion of a dangerous drug, one count of third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, and prohibited acts relating to drug paraphernalia.
Divina Fabro, 40, was also arrested at the house, for first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and prohibited acts relating to drug paraphernalia.
In another case in which officers used information generated from community complaints of excessive vehicle traffic, they said, the ice task force conducted an investigation of possible drug dealing at a residence in Wailua Homesteads. Following up on this on Friday, a search warrant was issued allowing KPD officers to enter a residence at 435 Kamalu Rd. in Wailua Homesteads, with officers from the task force, patrol, and the criminal intelligence unit responding.
Officers seized 0.7 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 14.9 grams of marijuana, an amount of cash, and various types of drug paraphernalia.
Resident Yvonne Hodges, 37, was arrested at the residence, and charged with third-degree promotion of a detrimental drug, third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, and prohibited acts relating to drug paraphernalia.
