East Kaua‘i overcame Kuku’s Aces in a TKO five inning game. East Kaua‘i scored a single run in the top of the first inning credited to Alex Youn who drove in Donald Boro who had previously gotten on with a base single.
In the second inning seven runners crossed the plate on hits from Labuguen, Night Owl, Boro, Hew and a HR from Youn. In the third, Dickie Koerte, Ramones, Damien Victorino and Labuguen got singles and three Kuku’s errors scored four runs.
East Kaua‘i’s final four runs came in the top of the fifth inning on hits from Ramones, Al Salvador, Ray Sam Fong, Ernest Koerte, Norman Holt and Night Owl. Hitters for East Kaua‘i were: Labuguen: 2 for 2, Boro with 2 for 4, Youn, Dickie Koerte, Ramones, and Night Owl with 2 for 3 and Jerome Hew with 3 for 3. Winning pitcher was Labuguen.
Kuku’s Aces scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning on base hits from Gordon Doo, Junior Ruiz, Ale Lomosad, and Stanley Rita. The Aces did not score again until the bottom of the fourth when Ben Pescador and Solomon Reyes had back to back base hits with Stanley Rita coming up with a single after one out.
Reyes and Rita were credited with the runs. The Aces’ final run came in the bottom of the fifth with Gordon Doo credited with the RBI.

Kuku’s Aces 16 Kawaihau 4,
Kawaihau lost to Kuku’s Aces in a time limit five inning game. A single run was scored by Kawaihau in the third inning on singles from Paul Awazu, Stephen Fujita and Paul Gusman with Gusman taking the RBI. The final three runs came in the fifth inning on hits from Awazu, Tats Tamashiro, Gusman and Cal Fujita. Hitters for Kawaihau were Jack Lucas and Awazu with 2 for 2, Gusman with 2 for 3 and 3 three RBI’s. Losing pitcher was Tamashiro.
This was the game of the century for Kuku’s Aces who in a five inning TKO game had 15 base hits, a HR, and 2 SF’s to score the win over Kawaihau. The first inning brought in seven runs with Junior Ruiz getting on, on an error and scoring when Ben Pescador got on with a second error.
Solomon Reyes then got a single and with two runners on, Stanley Rita drew a walk and loaded the bases. Kaleo Furtado then hit a single and drove in two runs.
Ernest Dela Cruz, Americo Morris, Sonny Hoopi‘i, and Walter Shaffer all hit singles and three more runs scored on the singles. Three runs came across in the third on hits from Furtado and Dela Cruz and a SF from Morris. The game ending runs came in the bottom of the fourth on hits from Willie Allianic, Gordon Doo, Ale Lomosad, Pescador, Furtado and Dela Cruz. West Kaua‘i 0, Rookies 8
West Kaua‘i took the loss from the Rookies in this seven inning game with West Kaua‘i going scoreless with just two single hits in the game coming from Maxie Moreno and Bob Merkle. The losing pitcher was Junior Rivera.
This was the Rookies sixth straight win, and makes them so far, the dominant team in the league. The Rookies scored two runs in the first inning on base hits from Mike Folster, Stan Dela Cruz, Archie Fontanilla and Ben Lizama with Fontanilla credited with the two RBI’s. Two more runs chalked up in the second inning on hits from Haru Maeda, Wally Sonoda, Walter Souza, Hank Nishikawa, Folster, and Dela Cruz. Souza hit a HR this inning scoring two. The final two Rookies’ runs came in the fourth inning on singles from Sonoda, Nishikawa and Folster. Hitters for the Rookies were: Sonoda with 2 for 2, Nishikawa and Dela Cruz with 2 for 3, and Folster with 3 for 3. Winning pitcher was Fontanilla.
Lihu‘e A’s 16, K-Makule 5
The Lihu‘e A’s were on a roll in their 16 to 5 win over K-Makule. Lihu‘e scored the seven run limit in the first inning on hits from Dwight Fujii, Ernest Domingo, Randy Tomlinson, Bruddah Rittmeister, Shigio Oshiro and Joe Brun coupled with two SF’s from Herbert Honda and Isamu Yoshishige.
A single in the third on back-to-back hits from Oshiro and Honda and a single in the fourth on hits from Tomlinson and Roy Running added to the scoring spree. Run number ten came in the sixth inning on a SF by Tomlinson.
The seventh inning closed the door on K-Makule when Lihu‘e scored six runs on eight base hits from Oshiro, Ed Bales, Pete Rayno, Fujii, Tomlinson, Running, Rittmeister, and Bardago. Tomlinson had three triples in the game. Hitters for Lihu‘e were: Rayno with 2 for 2, Fujii, Domingo, and Running with 2 for 4, Tomlinson with 3 for 4, Rittmeister and Oshiro with 3 for 5. Winning pitcher was Rittmeister. K-Makule was in a slump and could not get out from under scoring just five runs. Four of the five runs came in the first inning on hits from Guy Ruiz and Rudy Villon along side two Lihu‘e errors and a walk to John Taboniar.
The final run was in the fourth and was scored on a Lihu‘e error. Hitters for K-Makule were: Lefty Remata and Rudy Villon with 2 for 3. Losing pitcher was Bob Honda.
