Tomoko Miyoshi
Tomoko Miyoshi, formerly of Hanapepe, passed away peace-fully in her sleep on Feb. 25, 2005, in Kitami City, Hokkaido at the age of 68.
Born in Koriyama, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, on Jan. 31, 1937, she was a loving mom, dutiful wife, Japanese dance teacher and a Japanese school teacher at the Zenshuji Soto Mission in Hanapepe, Kaua‘i.
She is survived by her husband, The Bishop Koichi Miyoshi; three sons, Takenori Howard (Anna Lissa) Miyoshi of Diamond Bar, Calif., James H. (Teiko) Miyoshi of Palos Verdes, Calif., and Harlan J. Miyoshi of Utsunomiya, Japan; four daughters, Grace M. (Shawn) Helgeson of Northglenn, Colorado, Janice H. (Seng) Yea of Redmond, Wash., Myra H. (Matt) Vick of Chillicothe, Ohio and Iris A. (Shane) Yamamoto of Honolulu, Hawaii; 7 grandchildren; two sisters, Nobuko and Hiroko.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, in Hokkaido, Japan.
Donald Hiraoka
Donald Masaru Hiraoka of Lihu‘e died Feb. 26, 2005, at home at the age of 76.
Born March 6, 1928, in Hanama‘ulu, he was a retired tire specialist with Tire Warehouse.
Predeceased by his wife, Sumako; son, Mark; and parents: Hanayo Yoshimoto and Seisaku Hiraoka; he is survived by son Greg (Terri) Hiraoka of Lihu‘e; brothers Bob (Hazel) Hiraoka of Kapa‘a; Stanley (Frances) Hiraoka of San Pedro, Calif.; four sisters: Kiyoko (Yoshiji) Aoki of Honolulu; Tsuneko Kingman of Hanama‘ulu; Shigeko Yamashita of Hanama‘ulu; and Masako Yukimura of Lihu‘e; numerous nieces and nephews.
A military burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Sat., March 5, 2005 at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery. Aloha attire is suggested and flowers omitted.
Hanako Sadamitsu
Hanako Sadamitsu of Puhi, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Feb. 26, 2005, at the age of 87.
Born in Huleia on April 21, 1917, she was co-owner of Sadamitsu Store.
She is survived by daughter, Fay Sadamitsu of Lihu‘e; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 5, at the Lihue Missionary Church; service officiated by Pastor Ryan Claytor will begin at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.
