The Brigham Young University-Hawai‘i men’s tennis team suffered their first defeat of the season, Thursday at the hands of Division I Hawai‘i, 5-2, falling to 4-1 for the season.
The Seasiiders took the number one doubles match, but suffered a narrow 8-6 loss at the number three doubles slot, and also dropped the second doubles match to lose the solitary doubles point awarded under the Division I scoring format. BYUH managed just a pair of wins in the singles competition despite going three sets in two of the losses.
Dorian Porada and Marvin So‘onalole captured the solitary doubles win with a 9-7 victory at the top slot over Derrick Lajola and Dalibor Ptak.
The two Seasider points were gained by Leonn So‘onalole at number four singles with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win over Jarrod Diepraam and Jakub Huza at number five with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Chad Faulk.
The Seasider men will face Hawai‘i Pacific on Satuurday in Laie at 2 p.m.
