Shame on the University of Hawai‘i in spending hard earned tax dollars to accommodate the speaker Ward Churchill to preach to audiences and students with ideologies that are incomprehensible to your average citi-zen.
Freedom of speech may it be, but his message is truly warped, and det-rimental to those who have suffered in our nation, and to those who respect this great country we live in. Univer-sity of Hawai‘i spend our tax dollars to educate, feed a hungry child or help a sick grandmother, don’t waste it…

Pu‘uopae Bridge
To Mayor Bryan Baptiste
Sometimes I feel that those in charge of making decisions, do so without seeing the whole picture. As leaders of government you are able to spend money and waste a lot of time at the taxpayers expense. Whether it be local funds, State funds, or federal funds “grants” you spend a lot of time pulling the bucks off the old taxpayer money tree just to waste it on lots of consultants, and the famous neighbor-hood meetings that I attended concerning the bridge at Pu‘uopae Rd.
Now I hear rumor that the new construction of these bridges is going to be lengthy, detour traffic on what I consider the area to be a one-lane road, and it’s all going to cost us millions. I realize it’s hard to sometimes visualize the simple solutions. If you hire the right people , those bridges can be built and installed in a timely manner with-out major inconviences to motorists and the taxpayers pocket book.
The foundation footings of those bridges can be formed and poured as to allow traffic to remain flowing. The actual panels can be post tension, made right here on island and installed to complete the bridge projects.
All of this can be done at a fraction of the money and time you are about to spend. this is not an easy job. It would take careful planning and engineering. The solutions for lots of your projects re: small community bridges, and affordable housing is right in front of you.
Thank You for your time on this matter.

Kapa‘a fence
I can’t understand why they erected a fence (a real eyesore) on Kuhio High-way at Nani St. This was a lovely park like setting. the fence is ugly and now they have started hanging signs on it. This is taking more of the natural beauty of our island. Please take down the fence or at least keep people from hanging signs ot it.
