Affordable housing
I have recently been reading letters and published stories pertaining to the urgency of affordable housing.
Some people actually think that if the contractor / builder / developer was able to cut his prices or expenses this is going to help make housing more affordable.
I know plenty of people in all the trades. Most are highly experienced, and if you really want to see the wind drop out of the sails, cut their wages.
You get what you pay for. Maybe the realtors are willing to work on a 1 to 2ommission instead of the 6,75043070r higher they get. That would help make it more affordable. You only have a few options.
First, the costs of building materials is what it is.
Second, professional skilled tradesman are worth their weight in gold. the very idea to try and negotiate their costs for providing the services they do is an outright shame.
Third, the price for a custom built home, kit or package homes can be built at an affordable price with no land under it.
The cost of the land is why there is no affordable housing. What is needed is either the county, state, or private land owner to develope small parcels with infrastructure and graded lots for lease only. With the reasonable costs of the structure and a leased lot the cost of affordable housing can become a reality right now.
This could be a win win situation for all involved.
