Eleven Under Boys 14 and Under teams will be competing when the county’s 14 and Boys Basketball season starts on Monday, Feb. 14.
Representing youth from all parts of the island, the teams will be playing at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center on Monday and Wednesday nights as well as Saturdays.
Each weekday date will feature three games based on six periods of 6-minute running time. The final two minutes of the last period will be the traditional stop-clock timing. Saturday’s schedule calls for four games.
Week night games will begin starting at 6, 7, and 8 p.m. while the weekend games start at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m.
This format has proven to be successful in the community programs by allowing all players ample court and playing time.
Steven Matsumoto will be coaching a team from Kalaheo, Talbert Tacbian will be balancing coaching between two teams from Wailua, “A” and “B.”
Daniel Simao will coach the Lihu‘e “S,” Peter Rayno will be coaching the Lihu‘e Lakers, and Cecil Gee will be directing the Gee Unit.
Kim Nichols will coach the Waimea Rim Rockers, Antonio Pope will coach the Westside Hornets, and Billy Ramos will be coaching the Lihu‘e On Fire.
Jason Garcia will be coaching Kilauea, and Robert Lamadrid will coach the Eastside players.
C-Town, Voyagers, and Unit B take Saturday basketball wins in county’s Boys 12 and Under games

Jordan Tottori finished with a game-high 11 points in a losing effort as the Lihu‘e Maniacs slipped from C-Town 29-23 in the county’s 12 and Under boys basketball games played Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Kalaheo Neighbor-hood Center.
Scott Sasan finished with nine points to help Tottori’s efforts for the Maniacs.
Nico Chow finished with eight points followed by Austin-James Simao’s six points to lead the victorious C-Town.
Island School guard Canaan Higa generated ten points to lead the Voyagers to a 29-18 win over Kalaheo in the day’s second game with Alex Palacio helping the Island School effort with a nine point contribution.
Jamen Kealoha-Albarado and Kahea Prem both finished with four points to lead Kalaheo.
Keane Agoot and Jason Iloreta each tucked away seven markers to lead Eastside to a 35-29 win over the Gee Unit B in the day’s finale. Winston Gee topped the Gee, Unit B’s charge with six points.
The county’s Boys 12 and Under season ended Monday night.
