Kapa‘a traffic solution
My wife and I have been most fortunate to have spent a portion of our winters on this beautiful island for many of the past 33 years.
We have seen the serious traffic back-ups extending to the north from Wailua River as far back as Kapa‘a, which seems to get worse every year. Although the traffic is backed up to Kapa‘a, it suddenly begins to flow quickly and rapidly from Wailua River southward.
It’s obvious that the Kuamo‘o Road stoplight is the bottleneck. There is little cross traffic at the intersection.
The portion of time on “green” for the stoplight for the Kuhio Highway traffic should be increased substantially and the time on “green” for Kuamo‘o Road traffic should be decreased.
If this suggestion were given a trial, these severe back-ups would be substantially lessened.
In spite of the traffic, my wife and Iwill continue to enjoy all of the other time of our stay in this paradise.
