Ernest Kagawa
Ernest Saburo Kagawa of Waimea, died at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on Jan. 26, 2005, at the age of 94.
Born in Waimea on Feb. 11, 1910, he was a retired carpenter. Ernest S. Kagawa was a member of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Mol-lie; son, Donald Saburo Kagawa; five grandchildren, Tracy (Rus-sell) Fu, Kalei (Jeff) Wier, Wailana Dasalia, Kanani Kagawa and Kealoha Kagawa; nine great-grand-children; sister, Nora (Kiyoshi) Muraoka of Honolulu; numerous nieces and nephews. Private ser-vices were held on Jan. 30.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Agapito Jornacion
Agapito Jornacion of Kilauea died Jan. 24, 2005, at Garden Isle Health Center at the age of 97.
Born March 19, 1907, in Sante Cruz, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a retired plantation worker for Kilauea.
He is survived by his wife: Mag-dalena Dasalla Jornacion, children: Selina Cardenas of Oceanside, Calif., Filmer Jornacion of Hanalei, Floyd Jornacion of Kapa‘a, and Felita Gorospe of Kapa‘a; and five grandchildren.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at St. Catherine’s Church where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gar-dens.
Casual attire is suggested. Ar-rangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
James Dobie Thain Jr.
James Dobie Thain Jr. of Kailua, O‘ahu and formerly of Kalaheo, died Jan 25, 2005, at his home at the age of 65.
Born April 15, 1939, in Lihu‘e, he was a construction superintendent for Charles Pankow Builders.
He is survived by his wife Susan Thain of Kailua; sons: James Thain III of Kamuela and Justin (Malia) Thain of Po‘ipu; daughters Kirsten Thain of Honolulu and Cheyne Martinez of Kailua; brother “Ian” Scotty” (Tiny) Thain of Indepen-dence, Ore. and sister Moira Hand of Washington; 12 grandchildren; and caregiver and friend, Lisiate Heimuli.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, at Ko‘olau Golf Club; service to begin at 10 a.m. Ar-rangements are being handled by Moanalua Mortuary.
