The Kapa‘a Warrior JV squad broke into the winners column with a solid 52-49 win over the Menehune, Friday night.
Led by double digit scoring from Albert Aguila (18 points) and Halem Medina (10 points), the JV squad hopes to keep the fire burning as they host the Kaua‘i High School JV team starting at 5:30 p.m.
For the Warrior varsity, the elusive win continues to evade the efforts of the powerful team, the Warriors dropping a 48-40 heartbreaker to the Menehune at the Clem Gomes.
Showing strong play, the Warrior varsity saw limited play from Amini Taufo‘o, and despite a strong off-the-bench performance by Chris Ramelb late in the game, the Warriors could not grasp the win ring.
Kapa‘a was led by Leonel Calvan finishing with nine points, Kiah Imai adding seven, Junnel Calpito and Nate Berales each tipping in six – no Warrior hit the double-digit mark despite the abscense of Menehune Chad Barba who was not suited up for the contest.
The varsity game tips off 20 minutes following the completion of the JV contest.
