On with the show
My admiration for Sheraton Kauai’s new General Manager Angela Vento went up further when she phoned me mid-morning on a wet, soggy and windy New Year’s Eve and said, “We’re going ahead with the Fireworks Show.”
“Really, I said, amazed at her optimism.” And on went the show just before 10 p.m., the skies over Po‘ipu Beach were lit up with numerous sparkling displays amidst audible ooo’s and ahhhh’s of folks gathered under the eaves of the Sheraton Kaua‘i Hotel, grouped along the Poipu Beach Coastline, amassed at Poipu Beach Park and from the decks of friends and family and vacation homes homes. The evening’s weather actually improved enough to see the display from as far away as Kalaheo, in spite of intermittent showers.
My admiration also goes to all those businesses that put their money on the table to make sure this event happened. In addition to Sheraton Kauai organizing the display and chipping in a significant amount, mahalo for funding also goes to Kaua‘i County, Kiahuna Plantation Homeowners’ Association, Marriott’s Waiohai, Lawai Beach Resort, Hyatt Regency Kauai, Poipu Kai Homeowners Association, Big Save Inc., Poipu Shopping Village, Poipu Beach Villas, Grantham Resorts, Kukuiula Development, Old Koloa Town Merchants, Embassy Vacation Resort, First Hawaiian Bank, Brennecke’s Beach Broiler, Koloa Landing Cottages, Sueoka Store and Sunspot.
Mahalo and aloha to supporters of an event enjoyed by thousands of residents and visitors and a special mahalo for the optimism of Angela Vento at Sheraton Kauai.

Cell phone changes
Okay, enough is enough! Let’s make up our minds! I have never changed my cellular service. My cellular service keeps changing on me. I began with Ameritech. I was perfectly happy. Then Ameritech became Cingular. Okay, I can get used to that.
Next my Cingular became AT&T Wireless. Big name, AT&T. Maybe they’ll stay a while. Today I get mail telling me my AT&T will now be Cingular.
When will this bouncing ball stop bouncing?
