LIHU‘E — Like a broom sweeping the floor from those leftover gift wrapping material, the Kaua‘i High School Red Raider JV squads did just that but instead of gift wrapping material, it was the Menehune that they swept yesterday at Vidinha Stadium.
The Kaua‘i girls started things off with a 5-0 win and the Red Raider boys continued the domination with a 3-0 victory.
The Red Raider girls grabbed a 4-0 lead after the first half of play and kept the Menehune off the scoreboard and also added another goal for the 5-0 win.
Tiffany Ikeda-Simao cut through Waimea’s defense for a goal. Ikeda-Simao has been amazing this season so far for the Red Raiders.
Natasha Pigao, Ashton’s little sister scored a goal for Kaua‘i and Michelle Kato poked one through the goal for the Red Raiders.
But the star of the evening was Caitlin Towner, who punched home not one, but two goals for Kaua‘i.
The Red Raider boys took a 1-0 lead into the locker room and never looked back.
Josiah Motosue netted the first half goal for Kaua‘i.
The boys in red poured it on the Menehune in the second half, with two more goals for the 3-0 win.
Seth Quisell and Micah Alayvilla scored one goal each in the second half for the Red Raiders.
KIF varsity soccer action continues today at 4 p.m. at Vidinha Stadium.
The Menehune and Red Raiders lock horns for the second time this season. Waimea was able to win the first time, so the Red Raiders are looking for some sweet revenge.
