No matter what happens during the last three contests in the first round of the KIF softball season, Kaua‘i High School will remain the first round champion, after ringing up five straight impressive wins.
However, tonight’s game (Waimea at Kaua‘i) will be an important one for the Menehune, who played the Red Raiders tough in the Saturday, December 11th doubleheader at Waimea Canyon Park.
The Red Raiders won both games (10-6, 8-5) and put themselves in the driver’s seat.
Also, the first round finale is scheduled for Monday, December 27, instead of Saturday, December 25, which is Christmas Day.
On the 27th, the Warriors will travel to Waimea Canyon Park to battle the Menehune. The double dip starts at 3 p.m.
The second round kicks off on January 5 with Kaua‘i and Kapa‘a playing in a single game at Kapa‘a Ballpark.
Then on January 8, Waimea and Kaua‘i face off at Isenberg Field in a doubleheader matchup.
As of Saturday’s games, Kaua‘i is 5-0, Waimea is 1-2, and Kapa‘a is 0-4.
