So far, so tied. The 2004 KIF soccer season is up for grabs after last Saturday’s matches.
Kapa‘a and Kaua‘i are tied in the girls standings at 2-1. Both teams have six points.
Waimea is still looking for its first win of the season and it could very well be on Thursday, as they travel to Vidinha Stadium to take on the Red Raiders in a varsity only game, that starts at 4 p.m.
Meanwhile, Kaua‘i and Waimea share the lead with four points each in the boys race. Kaua‘i’s record is 1-1-1 and Waimea is 1-0-1. Kapa‘a is only two points back at 0-1-2.
The goal leaders for the girls all have one goal a piece. Ali Arakaki (Kaua‘i), Summer Ibara (Waimea), Liana Kakalia (Kapa‘a), Tiana Kunioka (Kapa‘a), Emma Makepa-Foley (Kapa‘a), Auika Muragin (Kaua‘i), and Kristen Shim (Kaua‘i) all have one goal on the season. Masai Bell of Kapa‘a and Chad Thompson of Waimea lead the boys goal scorers with two each. Kaleo Baxter (Kaua‘i), Mikiala Cup Choy (Kaua‘i), Agu Garcia (Kaua‘i), and David Honma (Waimea) all scored one goal each. The next KIF soccer match is scheduled for today at 4 p.m., with JV matches between Kaua‘i and Waimea at Vidinha Stadium. Varsity matches resume tomorrow at Vidinha Stadium at 4 p.m., with Kaua‘i and Waimea battling it out.
