University of Hawai‘i men’s basketball head coach Riley Wallace was discharged from the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Thursday, after undergoing a successful angioplasty. Wallace underwent the procedure on Wednesday and spent the night at the hospital.
Wallace is resting comfortably at his home in Hawai‘i Kai. He will resume coaching the Rainbow Warriors at Friday’s practice.
On Wednesday, he had a stent inserted in his right coronary artery to improve blood flow. Wallace missed Tuesday and Wednesday’s practices. The team did not practice on Thursday while the student-athletes concentrated on final examinations.
Wallace had a similar procedure in 1998 and had a stent inserted in his left artery. Four years later, he underwent brain surgery to remove two subdural hematomas while on a business trip in Las Vegas.
