The 2004-05 KIF soccer season kicks off Saturday, Dec. 4 as the Kaua‘i High School Red Raiders host the Kapa‘a High School Warriors at Vidinha Stadium.
When the KIF master schedule was released earlier this year, KIF soccer games were scheduled to be held at the Island School fields and Hanapepe Stadium due to the installation of the rubberized track at Vidinha Stadium
However, due to a delay in the installation, the latest revised schedule received from the KIF has the season centering around both Vidinha and Hanapepe Stadium fields.
The Red Raiders got in some pre-season action over the weekend as their girls team travelled to O‘ahu where they not only got to warm up for high school soccer, but were able to take in the HHSAA state football semi-finals featuring the Campbell Sabers and their own KIF champion Red Raiders at the Moanalua Field, Friday night.
But, on the soccer field, the best the Red Raider ladies could do was a 3-3 tie against Kamehameha, Ali Arakaki and Auika Muragen notching goals for Kaua‘i.
That game was followed by a 5-1 loss to the Pearl City Chargers, and a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Moanalua Menehune.
An own goal was credited for the Kaua‘i point in their Pearl City loss, and Megan Vento chalked the sole Kaua‘i point against Moanalua.
When the KIF gates open this Saturday, the JV boys will open starting at 10 a.m.
At 11:45, the JV girls will take the field followed by the varsity contests that start at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.
Order of play in the first half will be the Boys Junior Varsity, the Girls Junior Varsity, Boys Varsity, and Girls Varsity.
All Thursday games begin at 4 p.m.
