What a weekend of softball on the westside as the annual Waimea High School Softball Thanksgiving Invitational capped off yesterday at Waimea Canyon Park.
The festivities started on Thursday, November 25 with games and a Thanksgiving feast, provided by parent boosters from Waimea High School.
The invitational also ended with some food, as a fellowship dinner followed the games.
Along with the three Kaua‘i High Schools (Kaua‘i, Waimea, and Kapa‘a), Mililani, Sacred Hearts, Kamehameha, Iolani, University High, Kaimuki, Kahuku, and Pearl City joined the field from O‘ahu.
Baldwin and Maui made the trip from the Valley Isle.
Hilo and Kamehameha-Hawai‘i represented the Big Island at the Menehune invitational, which brings down the state’s best every year.
In Friday’s action, Iolani defeated Kamehameha-Hawai‘i 14-2, Waimea tied Kaimuki 1-1, Mililani blanked Sacred Hearts 6-0, Kaua‘i beat Maui 10-4, Kamehameha-O‘ahu defeated Hilo 7-0, Pearl City charged Kapa‘a 11-1, Iolani cruised past Kaimuki 6-2, University beat Kamehameha-Hawai‘i 3-1, Baldwin dominated Hilo 15-0, Mililani blanked Maui 7-0, Kamehameha-O‘ahu edged Pearl City 2-0, University outplayed Waimea 6-4, and Baldwin defeated Kapa‘a 13-1.
