• Joyce Ryan
Joyce Ryan of Princeville, died Oct. 21, 2004, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 90.
She had been in long-term care at Wilcox for two years.
Born in Ontario, Canada, May 13, 1914, she had a long and happy career in the arts, both in New York City and Hollywood. She worked for the “Blue Book” Modeling Agency at the time Norma Jean would become Marilyn Monroe. She was personal secretary to Rudy Valle and helped write his memoirs.
She retired to Kaua‘i and concentrated on her love of painting. Joyce’s favorite medium was oil and her religious and impressionist paintings hang in many famous homes. She was beloved by many and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her only son Christopher (Cissie) Ryan who is an artist on Kaua‘i’s North Shore and various nieces and nephews.
A private service was held.
Arrangements were handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
