After dismantling Pac-3 last week Friday, 49-7 at Vidinha Stadium, the Kaua‘i High School Red Raiders hope the same team shows up tonight against Campbell.
The Sabers drew a first-round bye and had a chance to see what the Red Raiders have to offer, by making a trip down to Vidinha to scout the first-round matchup between Pac-3 and Kaua‘i.
Campbell is a physical squad that features a prolific passing game, to go along with its stellar running attack.
Kaua‘i will have to play its best to get past the Sabers, who are basically playing on their home turf at Moanalua High School.
The crowd might play an important role in the game, as Kaua‘i travels to a hostile environment on O‘ahu.
The winner of the Campbell/Kaua‘i game goes on to the First Hawaiian Bank Division II State Football Championship to face either Iolani or Hawai‘i Prep on Friday, December 3 at Aloha Stadium.
Kaua‘i is hungry for its first-ever state title and this could be the year, thanks to great offensive weapons, like quarterback Kekoa Crowell, who’s one of the state’s best signal callers, wide receiver Kevin Cadiente, a shifty performer, with great hands, and Niko Elvenia, who has stabilized the Kaua‘i running game.
Hawai‘i Prep and Iolani face off in the other division II semifinal at Kamehamhea-O‘ahu on Saturday.
In division I action, it’s Kahuku against Leilehua and Kamehameha versus Lahainaluna. Both games happen tonight at Aloha Stadium. The winners of those matchups go on to the state division I championship game at Aloha Stadium on Dec. 3.
