Thanksgiving – Be thankful
Be thankful Kaua‘i isn’t a province of Iraq, and that our streets aren’t being used as battlefields. Be thankful that everyone on the Island is able to eat a fine Thanksgiving dinner if they choose to, and if they have the money to pay for the meal or not.
Be thankful that the still winds and hot weather this Thanksgiving week feels more like California in summer than Alaska in winter.
Be thankful there are more jobs available on Kaua‘i than job seekers, and that we are more than fully recovered from the economic downturn that plagued our Island following Hurricane ‘Iniki.
Be thankful that we live in a place where most everyone else in the world would live, if they only could.
Be thankful for the aloha spirit, it still lives despite of all the development and change that is changing the old ways of Kaua‘i.
Be thankful for health, and for those in bad health, the help and care that others give.
Be thankful for the safety and security our Police Department and Fire Department provide, for the ambulance crews who come to our rescue, for the men and women of the Armed Forces – for all who protect us this holiday.
Be thankful we can as a multi-racial society live in harmony, while celebrating and enjoying the best of our many cultures brought together here on a small island.
