Eleuterio Valdez
Eleuterio “Terry” Valdez, of Puhi, died at his residence on Nov. 9, 2004. Born in the Philippines Feb. 1, 1926, he was 78, and a retired truck driver with Lihue Plantation.
He is survived by his wife, Vilma Valdez of Puhi; son, Alvin Valdez, also of Puhi; brothers Larry Galanta of California, and Magdaleno Valdez, Benjamin Valdez and Cenon Valdez, all of the Philippines; sisters, Catalina Toquero, Marina Valdez, Hermina Dagsi and Lucilla Lemi, all of the Philippines. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be Friday, Nov. 19 at Immaculate Conception Church in Kapaia, with viewing from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., and mass celebrated at 10 a.m. by the Rev. William “Bill” Shannon. Burial will follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
The family requests casual attire. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.

William G. “Willy” Bonachita of Kaumakani died at his home on Nov. 11, 2004 at the age of 80. Born in Makaweli on Feb. 16, 1924, he was a agriculturist with Olokele Sugar Co. He is survived by a brother, Genaro “Kenneth” (Evelyn) Bonachita of Hanapepe; two sisters, Vivian Tiwanak of ‘Ai‘ea, O‘ahu and Blanche Cristobal of ‘Ele‘ele; numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Casual attire is suggested.

Ronald “Joe” Epenesela Beniamina
Ronald “Joe” Epenesela Beniamina of Pu‘uwai, Ni‘ihau, died at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on Nov. 11, 2004, at the age of 48. Born in Pu‘uwai, Ni‘ihau on May 10, 1956, he was a ranch hand with Ni‘ihau Ranch. He is survived by his wife, Darline Kahalaomapuana Beniamina; three sons, Jacey K. Kanahele, Ronald E. Beniamina, Jr., and Jonathan K. Beniamina, all of Ni‘ihau; three daughters, Jennalynn K. Beniamina, Roxanne K.N. Beniamina and Rosanna K. Beniamina, all of Ni‘ihau; four brothers, John (Kanani) Beniamina of Kekaha, Russell (Selentina) Beniamina of Kwajalein, James “Kimo” (Marian) Beniamina of ‘Ele‘ele, and Jim “Sela” (Pua) Beniamina of Hanapepe; four sisters, Angie (Kelii) Pahulehua of Kekaha, Ui Beniamina of ‘Ele‘ele, Keala (Ricky) Kahale of Ni‘ihau and Lehua (Kamealoha) Kanahele of Ni‘ihau; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Services officiated by Dana Kaohelaulii and Elia Kanahele will begin at 1 p.m., followed by burial at Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery.

Otsuru Yamasaki of ‘Ele‘ele died at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on Nov. 6, 2004 at the age of 83. Born in Wailua on Dec. 11, 1920, she was a mother and housewife. She is survived by her husband, Yoshito; son, Clyde Yamasaki of Torrance, Calif.; daughter, Claudia Otsuka of San Jose, Calif.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Lincoln Takahashi of O‘ahu and Henry Takahashi of Wailua; three sisters, Ruth Yoshizawa of O‘ahu, Nancy Matsuda of Kapa‘a and Diane Uyeno of Lihu‘e.
Services were private. Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Lloyd Isao Nakagawa
Lloyd Isao Nakagawa of Wailua Houselots died at home on Nov. 7, 2004 at the age of 89. Born in Kealia on Jan. 1, 1915, he was a fiscal officer with the County of Kaua‘i Department of Water. He is survived by two sons, Alan (Robin) Nakagawa and Robin (Lisa) Nakagawa, both of Mililani, O‘ahu; two daughters, Susan Kraus of Fresno, Calif., and Verna (Clinton) Nonaka of Honolulu; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Sadamu Nakagawa of Lihu‘e, Takeo (Lily) Nakagawa of Kaimuki, and Yutaka (Jane) Nakagawa of Honolulu; two sisters, Fusako Murai of Honolulu, and Karen Leigh of Nebraska; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ruth Kamiko Yamauchi of Lawa‘i died at home on Nov. 11, 2004 at the age of 89.
She was born in Kilauea on May 20, 1915. She is survived by her husband, Shoki; son, Roy (Edna) Yamauchi of Goleta, Calif.; three daughters, Marjorie (Herbert Taguma) Yamauchi of Honolulu, June (John) Lee of San Antonio, Texas, and Carolyn Ikegami of Culver City, Calif.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Takeo Hirakawa of Kapa‘a, Yutaka Hirakawa of Kapa‘a, Herbert Hirakawa of Pearl City, O‘ahu, and George Hirakawa of Gardena, Calif.; two sisters, Betty Higa of Honolulu and Asayo Nishihara of Kapa‘a.
Friends may visit with the family from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Kalaheo Missionary Church. Services are at 3 p.m. Casual attire is suggested, and the family requests flowers be omitted.
