Mike L. Taylor from Princeville aced Wailua’s 7th Hole, 158 yards, with a Wilson 9 wood. This is his first hole-in-one in the forty years he’s been golfing. It was witnessed by Bob Bradley, Jack Lucas & Bob Herrman.
35-over slowpitch playoffs start up
Universal blanked Ikaika, 4-0 in the county’s 35-over slowpitch playoffs on Tuesday.
Marvin Mikasa “Is your casa” got the win. Glenn Rodero picked up the loss. Wendell Nonaka “on my door” had 2 singles, “Big, Bad” Leroy Nonaka picked up 2 singles and an RBI, and Lance “Da Karate Kid” Nakata slammed a double and an RBI. “Plain” Blaine Nakano’s SF won the game. “Honest” Abe Kahaulua slapped home two singles.
In other action, Pahio knocked around Hard Knocks, 10-0. Lambert “Lilikoi Chiffon” Alapai got the win and Hoku Cup of “Joy” Choy suffered the defeat.
Willie “See” Nuivo had the big bat with 1 single, 1 HR, and 3 RBI’s. Mike “I got the shortest last name in the world” Ng slapped 2 singles and 4 RBI’s.
Nuivo’s HR drove in the winning run. Wayne “All in a day’s work” Allianic had a single for Hard Knocks. In the third game, Hana Hou defeated Hamura’s, 9-1. Al Aranio got the win and Thomas Kim “Chee” picked up the loss. Nelson Chiba had 2 singles, 1 HR, and 2 RBI’s for Hana Hou. Jeff Hashimoto chipped in with 1 single and 2 RBI’s. Chiba’s HR drove in the winning run. Kim had 2 hits for Hamura’s.
Officials’ meeting
Anyone interested in becoming a football official, or those who want to get back into officiating, are invited to attend an officials’ meeting, held every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Lihu‘e Neighborhood Center.
More Pop Warner results
During the third quarter of the Kapa‘a/Hanapepe midget contest, Kapa‘a moved the ball but they were unable to get into the end zone, hard running by the Rapozo duo still could not make a difference. The “men in black” prevailed.
On a pass play from Allen-Michael Gaspar to James Delos-Reyes in the third quarter Hanapepe Colts (M) were back on the board, the extra point kick by James Delos Reyes was good this came with 1:39 on the clock.
The final score for the Hanapepe Colts (M) came on a run by who else, but James Delos-Reyes who took the ball in for the score, and he also kicked the extra point, which was good making the final score, Hanapepe 31, Kapa‘a 0.
Kapa‘a Eagles (M) took the ball and tried to make something of the final seconds of the game, but were stopped short of the goal line on their attempt. This week’s action moves back to the Vidinha Stadium; the following week games will be at the Hanapepe Stadium because of the repair to the Vidinha Stadium track. Bowl games will be played at Hanapepe on the 27th of November with three teams traveling from 0‘ahu and one team from the Big Island Conference. These teams will be matched with Kaua‘i teams. Schedule to be announced.
