The clinic starts at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12 for parents, coaches, kids, and officials. A compliance clinic will start things off with speaker Jim Demello, UH-Hilo assistant athletics director. At approximately the same time, a referee clinic will be going on with speaker Mason Souza, Pac West basketball official. At around 6:45 p.m., UH-Hilo strength coach, Mike Garcia will lend his expertise in plyo training and exercise.
They do ask that participants wear athletic shoes and exercise wear. Then a special treat will end things on Friday, as the UH-Hilo men’s basketball squad conducts a practice and shootaround.
The festivities will start up again at 9 a.m. with an open clinic with UH-Hilo coaches and players assisting kids in learning basketball skills. At around 1 p.m., UH-Hilo head men’s basketball coach Jeff Law will talk about mental and physical preparation, which will be extremely useful for players and coaches. The UH-Hilo men’s basketball squad will have scrimmage at 2 p.m. and this special event is open to the pubic. Also, local officials who attend the previous night’s referee clinic will be able to help officiate the game.
