LIHU‘E – At least one victim of a two-car accident was transported to Wilcox Hospital for further treatment following a two-car accident at the intersection of Haleko and Nawiliwili Road Saturday afternoon.
The accident was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m., and according to reports coming across the scanner, one of the victims had apparently hit the windshield of one of the two vehicles involved in the mishap.
A black Toyota pickup was apparently trying to negotiate a left turn from Haleko Road onto Nawiliwili Road when it ran head-on into another Toyota pickup that was heading townbound from the Kukui Grove Shopping center.
Units from the Kaua‘i Police Department, the Kaua‘i Fire Department, Lihu‘e station, and American Medical Response responded to the situation that had traffic on Nawiliwili Road restricted at the accident site for about 45 minutes while the victim was transported and the vehicles moved off to the side for further investigation.
