Police Commissioner remarks
What is happening in our County Government?
An appointee of the Mayor makes an extremely racist remark and the only comment the mayor makes is “I’m looking into it!”
Come on Mr. Mayor, are you worried that your only appointee on the Police Commission may be removed?
The People of Kaua‘i expect better of their Mayor, we elected you to serve all races, we have long memories and you are up for re-election in two years. Show us that racism isn’t a part of Kaua‘i Government, speak up.

GOP calls
In retrospect, how would you like to hear Arnold Swartzeneger in your ear on your home phone or left recorded on your answering machine on Election Day, or George W. Bush the day before, or perhaps the tirade of Cam Cavasso on any day prior to the Day of Elections? Or the 11th hour appeal paid for it is said by the Bush/Chaney Inc. by a woman who didn’t identify herself?
I object to the Republican Party and its supporters invading the sanctuary of my home with these taped political solicitations. Such aggressive infringement of human rights and common courtesy has removed the modicum of respect I still had for the Republican Party and its deep pockets. I was willing to think and think again of any underlying virtue that might have prevailed in its political/community oriented policies if such there was below the surface excrement. Not any more.
We want stateswomen and statesmen, not pseudo practitioners of political science! Or detractors of other candidates. Leave my P.O. Box to breathe the good air too, thank you.

A ‘small slip’ is the Administration’s excuse for the racial slur, disrespectful conduct and causing dissension and disruption in the KPD by a Police Commissioner. And, to set the record straight, because I have received several telephone calls, the Police Commission did not pay off former Chief Freitas. It was the Administration’s scheme of “saving” County money to pay him, over the Police Commission’s objections. Now we have this ‘borrowing’ of positions from the KPD to use in other departments as the Administration’s pretext for the unauthorized use of appropriated funds.
As the saying goes, “you can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time.” The people of Kaua‘i can see right through these “games people play” and will set the record straight when it comes time to vote for a new mayor in 2006.
