Just as fine wine seems to get better with age, the Kapa‘a Warriors football team seems to get better with every game they have played so far this season.
Going into the game against Waimea, the Warriors will try for their first victory of the season.
In the meantime, the Menehune face an almost must-win situation to keep pace with the Red Raiders, who are 3-1. If Waimea wins, they will be tied with Kaua‘i with identical 3-1 records.
Kapa‘a has played both Kaua‘i and Waimea tough and this could be the game, the Warriors finally break through for the win.
Kapa‘a’s good size and Waimea’s speed match up well. Both teams have shown in the past that they can run on each other’s defense.
Waimea’s Aina Emayo will be counted on to account for a chunk of yardage on the ground and Kapa‘a’s versatile quarterback Kalima Leong has to play up to his potential if the Warriors plan to flourish against the Menehune.
The key for this game will be stopping the run. If the Warriors or Menehune are able to harness the running game, then that team will triumph.
You can catch all the action tonight starting at 5 p.m. with the JV contest, with varsity action follwing at 7:35 p.m. at Hanapepe Stadium.
