The first game of the day was between the Koloa Rams and the Lihu‘e Patriots. The first half was a defensive struggle between these two Pee Wee teams.
At the start of the third quarter, Lihu‘e runningback Canaan K. Bernard took the kick-off and raced 71 yards for the score, the kick by Kalen Kimura was good making the score Lihu‘e 8 and Koloa 0.
The defense scored on the next series of plays when Cameron Largusa intercepted a pass from Koloa’s Brandon Scovel and raced 17 yards into the end zone for the touchdown. The extra point try by Kalen Kimura was good making the score Lihu‘e Patriots (PW) 16 and Koloa “Westside” Rams 0.
The fourth quarter saw Koloa and Lihu‘e go between the 30 yard lines and both defenses stiffened. The game ended with Lihu‘e Patriots (PW) 16 and the Koloa “Westside” Rams were unable to score.
JPW: Lihu‘e 12, Hanapepe 8
The second game was between the Hanapepe Colts JPW and the Lihu‘e Patriots (JPW)
John Das took a pass from quarterback Travis Koga for the score, with 3:44 left in the first quarter. The extra point failed and the score was Lihu‘e Patriots 6 and Hanapepe Colts 0. Great defensive plays were made by the Colts’, Callejo and Travis Koga of the Lihu‘e.
The second score came as a result of a one yard plunge by Travis Koga and the extra point failed.
Hanapepe Colts scored on a long run by Clifton Callejo, who rambled for 55 yard touchdown. The extra point attempted by Dallas Correa was good. The final score was Lihu‘e 12 and Hanapepe 8.
Midgets: Hanapepe 8, Lihu‘e 0
The third game of the day was between the Hanapepe Colts (M) and the Lihu‘e Patriots (M).
There were three quarters of play without a score, as both defenses clamped down. With 3:25 in the third quarter, Hanapepe Colts’ Braxton Garma took the ball in from the five yard line for the score. The extra point was kicked by Cody Owen making the score Hanapepe 8 and Lihu‘e 0.
This game had a lot of hard hitting and both squads made several attempts to put the ball in the end zone, but because of tough defense, the score would remain the same and Hanapepe prevailed. The Lihu‘e Patriots team kept Hanapepe out of the end zone with plays by Matthew Koyama, Pono Matthews, and Lance Delos Reyes. This midget game ended up in a defensive battle, the only score was by Braxton Garma. Lihu‘e made a push for the end zone late in the game, but could not get the ball into the end zone.
Midget: Koloa 41, Northshore 0
The next game of the day was between the Koloa Raiders and the Northshore Na Ali‘i midgets. The Northshore Na Ali‘i moved the ball but was not able to get a score. The first score came with 5:04 on the clock in the first quarter on a touchdown run by Ikaika Rapacon and the extra point was good with a pass from Tyrus Ceria-Lux to Cris Pimienta. In the second quarter with 8:15 on the clock, Koloa scored again on a touchdown run by Ikaika Rapacon and the extra point pass from Ceria-Lux to Isaiah Horner. During the second quarter, with 5:25 remaining on the clock, Reggie Vigilia took the ball and rambled in from 25 yards out for the score. Point after pass from Tyrus Ceria-Lux to Cris Pimienta of the Raiders was good. The score at this time was Koloa Raiders 21 and Northshore Na Ali‘i 0. In the third quarter Kelii Ruiz ran 28 yards for another score, the extra point failed Score was Kolo’a Raiders 27 Northshore Na Ali’l 0. On a 13 yard pass from quarterback Tyrus Ceria-Lux, Michael Castillo-Ramos and the extra point run by Ikaika Rapacon was good making the score, Koloa Raiders 34 and Na Ali‘i 0. In the final quarter Loren Duarte took the ball on a quarterback keeper and raced 47 yards for the touchdown and the extra point by Kelii Ruiz on a run was good making the score Koloa Raiders 41 and Northshore Na Ali‘i 0. For Na Ali‘i, on the defensive side of the ball, Joe-Boy Enrique III, Kaipo Contrades, and Chris Sandobal played a hard fought defensive game. Also playing hard on the Na Ali‘i side of the ball was Blake Snyder, Roger
Taniguchi-Fu, and Ryan Bosma. Kelii Enrique also played a tough defensive game. Several passes were attempted by quarterback Blake Snyder and his favorite target was none other than Alex Geimer. Kaipo Contrades made several long runs moving the ball on the ground.
JPW: Koloa 25, Northshore 0
The game between the Koloa Packers JPW and the Northshore Na Ali‘i JPW was the fourth game of the day. Scoring in this game started early in the first quarter with Tanner Rivera rambling 23 yards for the score and the extra point failed. The score was Koloa 6 and the Na Ali‘i 0.
During the first quarter, Cameron Twiggs busted lose for a 51 yard touchdown. The extra point by Kalei Fujita on a run was good making the score, Koloa Packers 13 and the Northshore Na Ali‘i (JPW) 0. The first quarter ended with the score 13-0. With 4:41 left in the second quarter, Cameron Twiggs took off around the left side of the line and raced 74 yards for the score, the extra point failed and the score at this point was Koloa Packers 19 and Northshore Na Ali‘i 0.
In the third quarter, the Koloa Packers added another score. Kyren Rapacon scored on a one yard run. The extra point failed. The score stood Koloa 25 and Northshore 0. The Na Ali‘i had a good running game with Rajan Balian’s, but he could not get the ball into the end zone. There were strong defensive plays by Norman Soloman for the Na Ali‘i. Also strong defense by Kawika Wellington, Justin Snyder and Josiah Enrique.
PW: Northshore 12, Kapa‘a 0
The final game of the evening was between the Northshore Na Ali‘i and the Kapa‘a Eagles. The first half saw a defensive duel with Kapa‘a and Northshore moving the ball between the 30 yard markers, with no scoring, Long runs by Darren Taylor of Na Ali‘i were stopped by the Kapa‘a Eagles defense which were led by Keanu Esfanzo, Weston Moniz, and A.J. Alameida.
Defensive standouts for Na Ali‘i included, Sean Donohue, Trenton Camat, Daniel Hebron-Woodward, Kevin Cremer, Burl Kanoho, Darren Taylor.
Scoring for this game came in the third quarter and in the fourth quarter. The first score came on a 44 yard run by Darren Taylor with 7:24 on the clock in the third quarter. The point after was no good and the score stood at Northshore 6 and Kapa‘a 0.
In the fourth and final quarter of the game Northshore’s Kayson Apuna recovered a Kapa‘a Eagles fumble in the end zone stopping the Eagles on their drive. The extra point try was no good and the score stood at Northshore Na Ali‘i 12 and the Kapa’a Eagles O.
JPW: Kapa‘a 12, Kekaha 0
Games on Sunday at Hanapepe stadium were between the Kapa‘a Eagles, JPW and Midgets and the Kekaha Panthers JPW and Chargers.
Scoring began with the Kapa‘a Eagles (JPW) drawing first blood in the second quarter when Keane Agoot took a hand off and raced 15 yards for the score. The extra point failed making the score Kapa‘a Eagles (JPW) 6 and the Kekaha Panthers 0. The second score came on a interception by Aaron Nagao, who took the ball in for a touchdown, the extra point failed, making the score Kapa‘a Eagles (JPW) 12 and the Kekah’a Panthers 0, as this was the final score.
Playing hard on defense for Kekaha were Parinas-Kenney, Austin, also Alika Emayo, Paul Udarbe, Acelyn Emayo Kaimana Jose, and Errol Lanning.
Kapa‘a Eagles (JPW), had standout plays on defense by Brentten Rapozo, Aaron Nagao, Treston Brede, Keane Agoot, Kaulana Kaui, Austin Thronas, Samiu Lomu, and Jakey Alves.
Midgets: Kekaha 16, Kapa‘a 6
The scoring in the midget contest started with Kekaha Chargers Wesley Schmidt taking the hand-off around the right side of the Kapa‘a Eagles line and racing into the end zone for a touchdown.
The extra point was kicked by Allen Pancho, making the score Kekaha Chargers 8 Kapa‘a Eagles O.
This score came with 6:51 on the clock. Defensive hits were made by Brandon Chong, and Bradon Rapozo, “Mauka Rapozo”.
Defensive plays by these players kept Kapa‘a in the ball game.
A 10 yard TD pass from Sean-Michael Shigematsu to Bryston Rapozo gave Kapa‘a their first and only score of the day.
Attempt on the point after by Kapa‘a failed, as the score stood at Kekaha Chargers 8 and the Kapa‘a Eagles 6.
Kekaha Chargers scored on a end around play from the eight yard line by Wesley Schmidt, with 19 seconds left on the clock; the extra point was kicked by Allen Pancho, making the score Kekaha Chargers 16 and the Kapa‘a Eagles 6.
The first half ended with that score. Second half action saw no scoring.
The final score was Kekaha 16 and Kapa‘a 6. Kapa‘a made several “assaults” on the end zone only to be pushed back by the Kekaha Chargers. Hard charging by Allen Pancho, Wesley Schmidt, Rilen Bayot, and other members of the Kekaha Charges kept Kapa‘a at bay.
