Joyce Evens (Harold Naumu was keeping her company at the scorers’ table) always does a great job as “the voice of the Menehune,” and it wasn’t that hard to fit in between the choir (Jose Bulatao was definitely there, too) that provided great music for the event. Thank heaven we have nice people like Scott Nakamatsu (no Hamura’s in Waimea!) to make sure that game action can happen even if we have a choir on the stage! JoAnn Yukimura was also part of the choir, but later stuck around for some game action, wary of Ed Nakaya’s warning, “Watch out – it’s addicting!” Manny Henriques made the trip all the way out to Waimea, but succumbed to the thought of Pono Market laulau in the icebox…oh well, he’ll be at the Bernice Hundley tonight as Waimea travels to Kapa‘a.
And, if you have some time between games, check out Clementine Quel and her family-support group, who will be at the three McDonald’s restaurants for the McSoldiers Night event — they need help! — Crispy Kremes this Saturday at Lihu‘e Library, too! Meanwhile, over at Oki Diner, Jennifer Peters (she’ll be enjoying her day off Friday at Hanapepe Stadium) was working with Debra Craig when Paul Curtis was doing an interview with our latest heroes. Jennifer was even thinking of getting Barbie Oki to have a photograph for their wall of celebrities. Don’t forget to vote — if you’re going to be busy on Saturday, make sure you vote early! Then, join the media folks for a dandy Saturday night!
