While the current Kauai Economic Opportunity, Inc. after-school program for middle-school students at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School in Puhi is full, KEO officials are accepting enrollment forms for the second session.
The second session runs from Monday, Oct. 18 through Friday, Dec. 17, and is for middle-school students from income-qualifying families who would otherwise have nowhere except home to go after school.
Applications are available at the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School office, and at the KEO office on Wehe Road near the county Department of Water.

Last month, leaders and participants in the KEO After-School Program at the Puhi school celebrated the end of the summer session with a Family Fun Night at the school.
Students were awarded certificates for successfully completing the LifeSkills Training program.
This program not only teaches students about alcohol, drug and tobacco prevention, but also teaches the knowledge and skills necessary to increase self-esteem, make decisions and solve problems, deal with anxiety and anger, and communicate effectively.
During the program, students also learned about Hawaiian outrigger canoeing, and participated as teams on excursions to Nawiliwili Bay, went on excursions with the Save Our Seas program, learned video production with the professionals from Ho‘ike Kaua‘i Community Television, played games, and went on fun and exciting excursions and enjoyed the company of their peers.
The following students completed the level I LifeSkills training: Dulcie Catania, Kainoa Naihe, Kaulana Naihe, Austin Ponsagi, Pualani Ragasa, Jordan Sat, Crystal Simao, Gilbert Tumaneng, Lyle Ueunten, Travis Visitation and Keilen Shigematsu.
The following students completed the level II LifeSkills training: Raelyn Bonilla, Cristine Brauel and Darienne St. Laurent.
The following students completed the level III LifeSkills training: Kailee Andrade, Lianne Cacal, Gabrielle Link and Stacie Serquina.
