Hard Knocks edges KFD
Hard Knocks stopped KFD’s two-game winning streak with a 11-10 win, as Corey Rego picked up the victory on Tuesday in HGEA mountainball action. Gregg Morishige got the loss. At the plate, Hard Knocks was paced by Darrin Alcos (1-1B, 1-3B, 1-HR, 3-RBI), Dan Fort (1-3B, 3-RBI), and Glenn Rodero (1-1B, 1-2B, 1-RBI). Rodero also drove in the winning run.
Custom Limo’s Didi Ibia pitched a gem en route to giving “The Limo” the win, 6-1 over Nogi’s. Jeffrey Iida suffered the loss for Nogi’s, who were led in the batting department by Blaine Nakano (2-1B), along with 6 players with a hit a piece.
For Custom Limo, Sam Dias (2-1B, 1-2B, 2-RBI), Hank Ibia (1-1B, 2-2B, 1-RBI), and Kunyet Caspillo (1-1B, 1-2B, 3-RBI) led the way. Caspillo drove in the difference maker.
Rainbow Sports defeated Hana Hou, 5-3 behind pitching from Lance Nakata. Paris Resinto got the loss for Hana Hou.
At the plate, Hana Hou was led by Andy Pungan (1-1B, 1-2B) and 6 players all with a hit each. Rainbow Sports got good hitting from Wendell Nonaka, who blasted a HR and drove in 3 RBI. 5 players also contributed with one hit each. Ross Kagawa drove in the winning run.
Kaua‘i’s Fink swims to third
Kaua‘i’s John Fink got third-place honors at the 27th Annual World Bodysurfing Championships held at the Oceanside Municipal Pier from August 21-22.
Fink entered in the 45-54 age group, which featured 60 entries. Two other Hawai‘i residents competed in the event, David Ladd and Mark Cunningham.
Officials meeting for those interested
If you are interested in becoming an official or if you want to get back into officiating, there’s an official’s meeting every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Lihu‘e Neighborhood Center.
Kawaihau Little League meeting
The Kawaihau Community Little League will be having its Annual General Membership meeting on Wednesday, September 8, 7 p.m. at the New Town Park Pavilion.
At this meeting, nominations will be accepted for board positions on the 2004-2005 Board of Directors. Voting on these nominations will be held on Friday, September 10, from 4-7 p.m. at the New Town Park Little League Food Booth.
The Kawaihau district extends from Wailua to the North Shore. We are strongly recommending that community minded people in this district come out to support the children and community by taking an active role in our Little League program.
