Namolokama/Hawn finished the 7th Annual Na Pali Challenge 2004 in 4:37:24 to take the top finish Overall as well as the first finish in the Open Division at the Hanalei-Kekaha canoe race held Saturday, Aug. 21.
Puuwai battled with Kaiola for second place honors in the Open division with Puuwai taking the battle in just 45 seconds over Kaiola.
Puuwai crossed the finish at 5:02:01 with Kaiola on its tail at 5:02:46.
Niumalu “A” topped Niumalu “B” in the Masters 35+ division with just a second separating the top and second place finishes, the first Niumalu canoe ending at 4:50:21.
Namolokama topped the Sr. Masters 40+ class with a 5:03:27 trip, and Hanalei took Na Opio class with a 5:23:18 race.
Teams racing in the event consist of six kane and six wahine with the two teams taking turns in the canoe making water changes every 30 minutes.
The event was hosted by the Garden Island Canoe Racing Association.
