Kaua‘i digital customers of Oceanic Time Warner Cable from Po‘ipu to ‘Ele‘ele, Puhi to Hanama‘ulu, and Wailua to Kapa‘a now have the ability to order Pizza Hut products for delivery through their televisions.
The service, on channel 999, is available only to customers living in the delivery areas of the Kalaheo, Lihu‘e and Waipouli Town Center Pizza Hut locations, explained Marlene Matutino, system manager of Oceanic Time Warner Cable for Kaua‘i. Kaua‘i customers are the last ones in Hawai‘i served by Oceanic Time Warner cable system to get the service, already available on other islands, she said.
The availability of Pizza Hut products through the television marks a new business direction for Oceanic Time Warner Cable, the company best known for television and Road Runner high-speed Internet service, she said. “Our technical abilities to interact on a household-to-household basis are going to be more meaningful,” Matutino said of expanded moves to facilitate interactions directly between businesses and customers.
“Well, the phrase ‘pizza and a movie’ has been around for awhile.
We’ve just taken it home,” she joked. “We have never considered ourselves just a television business.
We are a conduit that provides entertainment, information and communication,” she said.
“We are simply communicating between Pizza Hut and one of our customers. It’s just another evolutionary step of cable television,” Matutino concluded.
