Pop Warner fire
Dear son,
This is your first year playing football and too see your excitement makes me excited for you. The way you keep trying on your helmet and then struggling to get it off makes me laugh.
This morning when you didn’t want to wake up I reminded you that you would be getting your equipment today and you woke right up.
Now I am heart broken to tell you that last night someone set a fire and burnt the equipment shed, that had all your football equipment in it, down to the ground.
That means that their is no equipment left to give you or anyone on your team today.I’m sorry I will not get to see you trying on your new equipment tonight. I’m sorry I have to bring you to practice today to see the ashes of your excitement on the ground. As a parent I will always try to protect you from harm, hurt and disappointment, but I think their is a lesson to be had in this disappointment.
I know you are probably too young to understand this, but if you can take anything good from this it would be to remember how this disappointment feels right now. Someday when you are older and mom and dad are not there to guide you, you may be in a situation to be tempted to do something you know is wrong, remember this feeling. Their are consequences to every action. I hope you and your team mates always remember how you feel about this senseless destruction. I hope it will always help you to make good choices as you grow up. I am sorry that some senseless person or persons did not think of you and your team when making bad choices. Love Mom
