Sheraton Kaua‘i Resort’s parent company recently appointed Angela Vento general manager of the 413-room oceanfront property on Po‘ipu Beach. Vento comes to Kaua‘i from Maui, where she was hotel manager of Sheraton Maui Resort.
Vento joined the Sheraton Corporation as director of group sales for the Sheraton Maui Resort in 1996, during the hotel’s $160-million redevelopment project.
She was later promoted to director of sales and marketing in April 1997. In 1999 the hotel was recognized by Starwood Hotels & Resorts as the North American Division Hotel of the Year for excellence in financial performance, customer and employee satisfaction and product quality ratings. In October 1999, Vento accepted the position of director of sales and marketing at the Sheraton Waikiki and The Royal Hawaiian hotel, overseeing all sales and marketing efforts for both properties and a Waikiki group-sales team, with a total inventory of 4,300 guestrooms.
Vento then returned to Sheraton Maui in March 2003 as the resort’s hotel manager. Prior to joining Sheraton, Vento worked in sales for the Kea Lani Hotel, Stouffer Waiohai, and Hyatt Regency Kauai Resort & Spa, and a Hyatt property in Atlanta.
Vento was born and raised in Georgetown, S.C., and attended Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree.
Vento is active in the community, where her current participation includes chairperson of the Women’s Diversity Committee; board member of the Aloha Festivals; member of Meeting Professionals International; and American Society for Association Executives.
Past community involvement includes University of Hawai‘i Travel Industry Management/Business School mentor, Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau Marketing Team, and American Cancer Society volunteer.
