It’s a time for swimmers and their families to enjoy a weekend of fun with teams and adults from off-island.
Olympic development youth soccer tryouts
The Hawai‘i Youth Soccer Association (HYSA) announced the dates of the Island District Tryouts for the Olympic Development Program (ODP). For Kaua‘i, the tryouts are from August 14-15 at the Island School field. The Island District Tryouts are the first step in the process of identifying, selecting and developing players to the State Team Pool, Regional Pool and ultimately for some the U.S. National Team program.
Players are identified and selected to the program after a series of training sessions in which the player is evaluated on their technique, tactics, fitness & athletic ability, and attitude. Tryouts are open to boys and girls born from 1988-1993.
Lee won’t return for senior season
HONOLULU — Hawai‘i point guard Logan Lee, who started 26 games for the Rainbow Warriors as a junior last season, said he won’t be returning to the team for the upcoming season.
Lee played in all 33 games for Hawaii before losing his starting role late in the season to senior Jason Carter. He led the team with 3.6 assists per game and also averaged 4.2 points and 1.7 rebounds per contest.
