Karen Rose Suarez of Kalaheo, died July 19, 2004, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 51.
A homemaker, she was born May 30, 1953, in Lihu‘e.
She is survived by her husband: Steven Suarez of Kalaheo; one daughter: Shyla Suarez of Kalaheo; her mother: Virginia Lopez of Kalaheo; one brother: Wayne (Sharon) Lopez of Kalaheo; two sisters: Lucille Lopez of Kalaheo and Vicky Soares of Kalaheo; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Holy Cross Church. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Mary F. Williams
Mary F. Williams of Kapa‘a, died July 20, 2004, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 55.
Born Oct. 4, 1948, in San Francisco, Calif., she worked in the reservations and guest reception department for Suite Paradise.
She is survived by her husband: Bill Williams of Kapa‘a; two daughters: Patricia (Phillip) Mendisco and Erinn (Ryan) Whittemore, both of California; son Brian Smith of California; three brothers: John (Charlene) Crowley, F.X. (Nancy) Crowley and Joseph (Mary) Crowley, all of California; two sisters: Kelly (Charles) Fuller and Tara (Stephen) Chase, both of California; four grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
No services will be held. Arrangements were handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
George R. Cavell
George R. Cavell, 77, of Walloon Lake died July 17, 2004, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 21, at Bay Shore Presbyterian Church. The Rev.Ward Potts officiated.
George was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Marlboro, NY, the son of Matthew and Jean (Moore) Cavell.
As a young boy they moved to Evansville, IN., where he grew up and attended school. After high school, George attended Yale University where he received his BA. He then attended Georgetown Unviersity where he received his master’s degree. On Aug. 21 1993, he married Lois Lecompte-James in San Diego, Calif.
George was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Washington D.C., where he was in charge of research for the bulk mail service. He then operated his own consulting service, Cavell and Associates. He retired in 1987. Since his retirement he spent his winters in Southern California and Kauai. His summers were spent at his favorite place, his home on Walloon Lake
George was a member of the Masons. He is survived by his wife Lois; three children: Scott (Susan) Cavell of Harbor Springs; Christian Cavell of Pittsburgh and Mark Cavell of Indianapolis; brother: Stuart (Marjorie) Cavell of Ft. Wayne, Ind., stepchildren: Nickolas (LuAnn) Crawford of San Diego, Melissa (Robert) Velderman of Grand Rapids, Ted (Sherry) James of Anderson, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Contributions in memory of George may be made to the Little Traverse Bay Conservancy.
Ramona Pimental
Ramona “Mona” Garcia Pimental of Lihu‘e, died July 26, 2004, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 77.
A retired kitchen manager for Woolworth’s Store, she was born Aug. 31, 1927, in Lawai.
She is survived by companion: Kaoru Watanabe of Lihu‘e; three sons: Ernest (Carmen) Koerte, Jr. of Lihu‘e, Ralph (Rosie) Koerte of ‘Oma‘o, and Richard “Dickie” (Kathy) Koerte of Wailua; one daughter: Gloria (Bobby) Girald of Lihu‘e; three sisters: Leonora Shies of Lihu‘e, Alice (George) Texidore of Kalaheo and Rose Lopez; two brothers: Thomas (Jackie) Garcia of Maui and Johnny Garcia; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services are scheduled for Thursday, July 29, at the Lihu‘e Lutheran Church. Visitation at 9 a.m. Services to be conducted at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens. Aloha attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
