Pedro Mariano Acob
Pedro Mariano Acob of Kilauea, died July 16, 2004, at his home at the age of 94.
Born Feb. 7, 1910, in the Philippines, he was a laborer at the sugar plantation.
He is survived by his wife: Florentina Acob of Kilauea; three daughters: Catherine (Rodney) Acob of Kapa‘a, Michelle (Joshua) Acob-Apana of Kilauea and Jacqueline Acob of Kilauea; two sons: Edward Acob of Kilauea and John Pierre Acob of Kilauea; one granddaughter; Kamoana “Momo” Apana of Kilauea and one grandson: Kawaiolu Apana of Kilauea; brothers: Hipolito Acob, Nicomedes Acob and Roman Acob, all of the Philippines. Friends may call on Saturday, July 24, from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at St. Sylvester’s Church in Kilauea where Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by Father Jim. Burial to follow at Kilauea Japanese Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Frank Medeiros Ventura
Frank Medeiros Ventura of Wailua and Kailua, died in Honolulu on July 16, 2004, at the age of 97.
Born in Koloa on June 10, 1907, Mr. Ventura worked for 51 years at McBryde Sugar Company. During this time he also owned and operated Ventura Poultry Farm in Kalaheo with his brother, William Ventura.
He is survived by two sons: Melvin (Pauline) Ventura and James (Theresa) Ventura; one sister, Sophie (Harold) Robella; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, July 26, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by Mass at 11 a.m., co-celebrated by Fr. Patrick Coyle and Fr. Tom Gross. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Church Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested. Donations in memory of Mr. Ventura may be made to Catholic Charities, 250 Vineyard Street, Honolulu, HI 96813.
