The Kauai Filipino Chamber of Commerce recently awarded scholarships to two Kaua‘i Community College students.
Each received $1,000 to pursue higher degree curriculum in the field of nursing.
Chelsea “Nani” Dinnan is a pre-nursing student at KCC and says her goal is to become a physical therapist or sports doctor.
Dinnan graduated from Kapa‘a High School in 2003. She was a former assistant athletic trainer at that school. She currently volunteers at Ho‘ola Lahui Hawai‘i and works part-time at Kaua‘i Hula Girls Restaurant at the Coconut Marketplace.
Scott M. Murakami iscurrently a KCC nursing student working on his associate’s degree to become a registered nurse.
His ultimate goal is to become a nurse anesthetist, which would require an additional two years of graduate school work after working several more years to gain experience in the nursing field.
