Kapa‘a — The Westside Klowns won the boys 19-and-under championship by forfeit over the Southside Boys at Kapa‘a Gym on Saturday. The third-place match-up also was won by forfeit, as the Kapa‘a Warriors took the third-place medals over Zoom Zoom.
In earlier action, the 19-and-under girls teams showed up and came to play with the Kaua‘i Fire Raiders falling to the Westside Hornets, 34-24.
Ashley Vea netted eight for the Hornets and Meiling Keopuhiwa put up eight also for the Fire Raiders.
Da Malihinis (Kaumakani) and Joanna Jacinto cruised past Wailua, 30-16. Jacinto scored 11 to lead her squad and Kenilyn Nakamura had six for Wailua.
The Go Go Girls (Kapa‘a) slammed home a win over an overmatched Easide Gurlz team, 58-20.
Poe Gantt came up with 16 big points to lead the Go Go Girls. Jennalyn Gomes and Becka Duncan notched six points each to lead Easide. The 19-and-under girls continued playing on Monday at Kalaheo Gym with the Westside Hornets upending the Easide Gurlz, 48-21.
The Hornets got balanced scoring from Randi Ortiz, Lani Kanahele, and Virginia Aguilar, who combined for 27 points. Alexandria Gausepohl paced Easide with six.
The Lihu‘e Raiders routed the Kaua‘i Fire Raiders, 58-11 in the third contest. Darcie Allianic and Cherisse Rapozo combined for 19 points for Lihu‘e and Meiling Keopuhiwa netted five for Kaua‘i.
