LIHU‘E — With just a week to go in K-PAL’s (Kaua‘i Police Activities League) 2004 flag football season, the action continued to provide fans and parents with comical and outstanding plays from the young athletes on the field in Lihu‘e yesterday.
The windy weather made for a tough time for the players, as their flags kept sliding off of their belts and flying far away from themselves.
At some instances, the youths found themselves with the ball in one hand and a flag in the other, or one flag missing all the way down the other end of the field without them knowing.
However, the wind didn’t stop the festive and fun atmosphere, which made for great games throughout the day.
Referee Drew Kamana‘o, the starting quarterback for the Kaua‘i Cowboys football squad was quick to mention that the Cowboys are ready to upset the Maui Stars in the Tsunami Bowl on Saturday, July 24 in Maui.
“The team is ready to go and we’re going into the game knowing that we can beat these guys,” Kamana‘o said.
The Kaua‘i Cowboys semi-pro football team is looking for its first Tsunami Bowl title.
For the small football guys, Saturday, July 24 is the season finale for the 2004 flag football season.
Noted as fun day by K-PAL director Mark Ozaki, the action starts at 8:00 a.m., with the closing ceremonies. The games will be held in Lihu‘e, at the soccer fields, next to Vidinha Stadium.
