Drug problem solutions
In his letter published on July 17 Richard Moll (Diamond) decries Senate Candidate Maryanne Kusaka’s law enforcement approach to the drug problem. He goes on to praiseGary Hooser’s “softer approach.”
Moll trots out the tired old position that increased taxes and spending will be the cure-allfor the problem. I was recently in London and saw an editorial in an English newspaper with the same old song. However, on the same page was an article about the drug conviction of rocker Mick Jagger and his associate Keith Richards.
Financial hardship and a need for taxpayer-funded services must be to blame for these millionaires’ drug problems!
Moll also equates street drugs (Ice) with government regulated prescription drugs.
Would he support limiting access to medically necessary treatments? For extra excitement he seems to support a return to the failed experiment of Prohibition in his comments on the widespread use and abuse of alcohol.
Moll expressed an interest in determining which candidate would “present a clear position based on real facts”.
I couldn’t agree more. He would like a campaign based on “integrity, truth and creative vision” as opposed to “mudslinging and attack.”
That is why I support Maryanne Kusaka for State Senate.
