The annual Kaua‘i section of the statewide Aloha Festival is scheduled to begin on Saturday, August 21 with the investiture of the Royal Court, at a ceremony in Wailua featuring mele pule, mele oli and mele hula honoring Hawai‘i’s cultural traditions.
The event is set for the Kamokila Ancient Hawaiian Village along the banks of the Wailua River, with access from an entrance on Kuamo‘o Road.
The cost is $10, and the event begins at 10 a.m. Light refreshment will be served. For informations call 245-8508.
On Sunday, August 29 the Royal Court is to be received at a traditional Hawaiian church services at the Kapa‘a First Hawaiian Church on Kuhio Highway at 10 a.m. The event is open to public.
Thursday, September 9 is the date of the opening ceremony for Aloha Week at the Hyatt Regency Kaua‘i, beginning at 4 p.m.
The event is free. There is to be an Ancient Hawaiian Ceremony at the Seaview Terrace Lounge.
A lu‘au follows at 5:30 p. m.
