The Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau, gearing up for its fall promotional campaign, has transmitted to local tourist executives a list of opportunities to buy into the campaign, which is called “Come Experience Aloha.”
“This theme provides an umbrella of opportunities that showcase Hawaii’s many experiences, activities and cultural events during the fall period,” said Bill Kennedy, HVCB manager for membership. “Events include championship sporting events (i.e., Ironman Triathlon, PGA Grand Slam of Golf, Triple Crown of Surfing, Honolulu Marathon, outrigger canoe races, etc.) along with cultural events such as Aloha Festivals, Taste of Lahaina and Best of Island Music concert and the Annual Coconut Festival.”
Some specific opportunities available:
- Wholesaler co-op newspaper, Aug. 22-Oct. 17.
- Broadcast television, Sept. 7-26. National cable television on Discovery and Travel Channels, back-to-back 15-second or 30-second commercial spots. Estimated cost to partner: $25,000-$75,000.
- E-newsletter, monthly distribution to 250,000 Islands of Aloha requestors. Editorial e-mail includes one full banner with advertiser link, $1,250; 80-word text, logo and link, $1,250; Special offer 20-word link with logo and advertiser link, $350.
- Online Marketing, national advertising and promotion on high traffic portals coordinated with HVCB advertising and content on Orbitz, Expedia and The Knot.

- Trade Show Participation: Direct exposure to travel professionals/travel agents throughout the U.S. and Canada; participation booth fees and shared costs vary, $500 to $3,000 per show.
