There is a distinct possibility that Kaua‘i’s Great Weigh Out, a 12-week, individual and team fitness, nutrition and exercise program, could expand to an 11- month event next year.
Organizers of Kaua‘i’s Great Weigh Out 2005 have scheduled a strategic-planning workshop for Monday, July 19, from 9 a.m.
to 1 p.m. at the parish hall of St.
Michael & All Angels’ Episcopal Church next to the Lihu‘e Public Library.
Besides creation of a proposed 11-month calendar of events where the events do not conflict with each other or other major events on the island, the workshop and brainstorming session will cover: ºWhat organizers hope to accomplish in supporting a culture for physical activity and healthy eating on the island; ºFocusing and coordinating efforts to accomplish together what individuals may not be able to accomplish alone; ºIdentifying potential funding sources; ºCreating an incentive and accountability program; º Beginning to develop an action plan with desired outcomes; The church is at the corner of ‘Umi and Hardy streets in Lihu‘e.
