The Kilauea Theatre has gone off the deep end by portraying their sad partisan agenda this past Sunday with the showing of the Bush bashing Fahrenheit 9/11.
Offering a free showing of this baseless propaganda can only be construed as an exercise in the First Amendment of imagination. The liberal Socialist elite love to prey upon the uneducated and weak-minded that are easily manipulated by Hollywood hype.
In the past, I used to consider the Kilauea Theatre and the owner as somewhat eclectic with a flare for showing the more unusual independent films that are often recognized at the coveted Cannes Film Festival and the like. I now see through the facade of a liberal business owner with a hidden political agenda that is not fair and balanced.
Fahrenheit 9/11 is a fictional accounting of the events of September 11, 2001 and the Bush Presidency and has no redeeming or constructive value to anyone rooted in reality. Isn’t it coincidental that it took Moore so long to develop his diatribe of conspiracy and to release it in an election year? How convenient, I guess timing is everything! Many people are unaware of the fact that one of Disney’s subsidiary held the release rights for this project and when CEO Eisner learned of the contents of this film, he found it repugnant and refused to release it. Moore was beside himself and through extensive negotiations an agreement was reached with Eisner’s insistence that 60 percent of the movie proceeds go to charities of his choice. To add insult to injury, Disney refused participation in the actual distribution process causing Moore to absorb additional losses and then he only gets 40 percent of his slanderous efforts.
If Kilauea Theatre wants to contribute money, time and efforts in a worthwhile effort, then why not rent another fictional movie and provide true entertainment at no cost to island residents firstcome, first served.
You’d have a packed house and good would triumph over the evil lies of Michael Moore and his kind.
