Robert Rivera Sr.
Robert “Bobby” Rivera Sr. died March 19, 2004, at his home in Stockton, Calif., at the age of 66.
A resident of Stockton for three years, he was formerly a longtime resident of Hayward, Calif.
Born Jan. 27, 1938, in Koloa, he was a journeyman paper cutter and worked for many years for FP Label Company in San Bruno, Calif. He was an all-around athlete who excelled in baseball, football and track and field. He enjoyed gardening and raising rabbits and chickens, spending time with friends and family, and the Oakland Raiders.
He is survived by his wife Jennifer Rivera of Stockton; mother, Salome Rivera of Kalaheo; daughters Donna Ortiz of Kansas City, Mo. and Diana Rivera of Hayward; and son Rob Rivera, Jr., of San Lorenzo, Calif. He is also survived by sisters Selma Rivera and Celia Mae Fraticelli, both of Kalaheo; and brother Charles R. Rivera, of Kapa‘a.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 16 at Kalaheo Holy Cross Church, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Dinner to follow at the church hall.
Shizuko Kato
Shizuko Kato of ‘Ele‘ele, died at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home, ‘Oma‘o on July 8, 2004 at the age of 99.
Born in Hiroshima, Japan on June 7, 1905, she is survived by daughter, Toyoko Iwase of Lawa‘i; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Sanshiro Ishida of Yamaguchi, Japan; numerous nieces.
Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, at Kauai Soto Zen Temple. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.

Paul Cabral
Paul Cabral of Kalaheo, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on July 3, 2004, at the age of 77.
Born in Kalaheo, on March 29, 1927, he was a refuse collector with the County of Kaua‘i.
He is survived by daughter, Paulette Kaiwi of Kekaha; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, James (Evelyn) Cabral of Puhi and Ernest (Mary Jane) Cabral of Lawa‘i; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 16, at Holy Cross Catholic Church; Mass officiated by Father Biz will begin at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Koloa Public Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
Andy Gambeng
Andy Paul V. Gambeng of Hanama‘ulu, died at Wilcox Hospital on July 8, 2004 at the age of 29.
Born in Pagudpud, Philippines on Dec. 17, 1974, he was a lead service agent with Alamo Rent A Car.
He is survived by his fiancee, Marie Mendaro of Hanama‘ulu; two sons, Michael Timothy M. Gambeng and Kyle Gerame Gambeng both of Hanama‘ulu; daughter, Rhea Michelle Gambeng of Hanama‘ulu; parents, Edwin and Aniceta Gambeng of Hanama‘ulu; three brothers, Boddie James Gambeng, Jermerson Gambeng and Mark Anthony Gambeng, all of Hanama‘ulu; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; Mass at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Lihue Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Lily Fujiyoshi
Lily Yuriko Fujiyoshi of Honolulu, and formerly of Kaua‘i, died June 27, 2004, in Honolulu at the age of 98. Born in San Mateo, Calif., she is survived by sons, Ronald (Jeanne) Fujiyoshi and Miles (Dale) Fujiyoshi, daughter, Elaine Ki‘ilehua, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 24, at Manoa Valley Church, with service at 10:30 a.m. Aloha attire is suggested. A reception will follow.
Mariano Jardin
Mariano Taaca Jardin of Kekaha, died at home on July 12, 2004, at the age of 92.
Born in Villasis, Pangasinan, Philippines on April 4, 1912, he was a retired irrigator with Olokele Sugar Company.
He is survived by his wife, Cristeta B. Jardin; eight sons, Moses (Rosie) Jardin of Texas, Mariano (Virginia) Jardin Jr., of California, Rolando (Maxima) Jardin of Kekaha, Stanley (Linda) Jardin of Oregon, Jessie (Marylou) Jardin of Hanapepe, Richard (Irene) Jardin of Tennessee, Marvin (Tanya) Jardin of Hanapepe and Gregory (Carolyn) Jardin of ‘Ele‘ele; three daughters, Marita (Peter) Soriano of California, Mildred (Kenny) Wu of California, and Clarissa (Keoni) Sandal of Kekaha; 24 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cirilo (Epitacia) Jardin of the Philippines and Francisco (Carlina) Jardin of Lawa‘i; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kekaha; Mass officiated by Father Larry will begin at 2 p.m. followed by burial at the Hanapepe Public Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Federico Edu Ramones of Kilauea, died at Wilcox Hospital on June 26, 2004, at the age of 69.
Born in Lanao, Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on Aug. 1, 1935, he was a groundskeeper with Martin, Bryant Company.
He is survived by his wife, Rosita Gamaio Ramones; four sons, Federico Ramones Jr., Roy (Aida) Ramones, Rodel Ramones and Sherwin Ramones, all of Lanao Bangui, Ilocos Norte, PI.; six daughters, Adela (Zaldy) Soriano of San Fernando City, La Union, PI., Elizabeth Ramones, Edna Ramones both of Lanao, Bangui, Ilocos Norte, PI., Aida (Dante) Padre of Kilauea; Rowelyn Ramones of Lanao, Bangui, Ilocos Norte, PI., and Elena Ramones of Banban, Bangui, Ilocos Norte, PI.; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Adolfo Ramones of Pagudpod, Ilocos Norte, PI., Moeses Ramones of Lanao, Bangui, Ilocos Norte, PI., and Abraham Ramones of Manila, PI.; two sisters, Estrella Visconde and Bethseba Ruiz both of Lanao, Bangui, Ilocos Norte, PI.
